Our local pub The Bonny Cravat can be walked to via a footpath from Shirkoak that leads down to The Woodchurch Windmill, this is a fine example of a Kentish Smock mill and is the remaining windmill of two that were on this site and known as ‘The Twins’. You can visit the windmill from Easter until the end of September on Sunday’s and Bank holiday’s 2-5pm.
The Bonny cravat was rumoured to be a meeting place for smugglers and has an underground tunnel leading from the cellar over to the church opposite. Wayne and Melanie offer a very warm welcome and serve traditional pub food and Shepherd Neame Ales for lunch and dinner. On Sunday’s they host a very popular Sunday carvery. Children and dogs are made to feel very welcome. There is also a great games room with pool and darts and a safe pub garden. www.bonnycravat.co.uk
